The Youth Empowerment Headquarters celebrated its grand opening on September 12, 2017 with First Lady Donna Edwards and community partners.
The Youth Empowerment Headquarters is a confidential center where our mission is to provide programs to help young adults flourish mentally, physically, academically and spiritually in a safe environment. Overall the center will strive to change lives with experiences, resources and support that will help our youth succeed in and out of school. It will offer programs such as youth leadership development, rap and language arts, T.V. show development, music and drama, and cooking classes. There are also opportunities for socializing, game playing, and outdoor play. Our programs will be tailored to meet the needs and interests of the youth in our community.
Roxson Welch, Director of the Family and Youth Service Center believes, “It is the place where kids are able to become their best self. Kids are always searching for who they are, searching for what their purpose is, and searching for connections and this place does it in a world that’s so connected with children.”
The center empowers youth to make healthy choices and to plan healthy, hopeful futures.
