East Baton Rouge Parish has found an invaluable partnership in FYSC. We have benefited from actively engaging the Superintendent of Schools, Mayor, Sheriff, Chief of Police, state agencies, and local business and community groups to collaborate on truancy prevention initiatives. The reduction of truancy is a top priority for curbing crime and improving our community. In the first school year of operation we saw an impressive drop in local truancy rates. We believe that the model of early identification, assessment and intervention is the right model to implement across our entire school system to reduce both juvenile and adult crime.
